After doing some brand research and general research into shirts I decided that I wanted to create a classical shaped shirt as I feel like it would fit into the brands identity well and then I would make this simple design different somehow.
I saw on the whistles website that they had a shirt that was made up of contrasting prints and I really liked this idea and so I thought about how I could do something similar with my design.
I decided to colour block my design by using a ‘Neo Mint’ fabric for my collar, button stand, cuffs and pockets and then I decided to use a plain white fabric for the rest of the shirt. I also wanted to add in some contrasting stitching in pink as when I was doing my research and looking in shops contrasting stitching was everywhere and I loved it and immediately wanted to incorporate it into my design.
Once I had got my colours and the main idea set in stone I wanted to develop further on bringing some different elements into my design. I did this by looking into exaggerating key aspects of my shirt like; the collar, the cuffs and the pockets.
