Shirt Toile

After drafting some ideas in my sketchbook of what I wanted my shirt to look like, I set off starting to draft up some patterns, I used a normal shirt block but I changed the back section by making the yoke a lot bigger (to fit with my theme of exaggeration) and to make the back longer than the front (this would also tie into my theme of exaggeration well).

I then started drafting up some patterns for my collar, my first collar that I drafted up did not sit how I wanted it to when I attached it to the main body of my shirt. I solved this problem by increasing the height of the collar stand piece, this then allowed my collar to sit nicely when it was attached to the shirt body.

Next I started to look at the sleeves. Originally I was going to have neo mint cuffs although when creating my toile I liked the idea of the sleeves all the one colour and then they would have a contrasting neo mint stitch detail on them instead. I created my sleeve pattern by adding on a section to the bottom of my initial sleeve design. This will then get folded up to create a large and bulky cuff to suit my theme.
