Moncler

To start my research into the kinds of clothes I wanted to design and put in my window and also to look at some ideas of window displays that already existed, I looked at Moncler. Moncler is an Italian apparel and lifestyle company, most commonly known for its down jackets and its amazing sportswear. The company was founded in 1952 by René Ramillon and André Vincent and they took its name from the abbreviation of Monestier-de-Clermont, an Alpine town near Grenoble, France. I started off by looking at their window displays that they have created over the years which gave me so much inspiration into what sort of things I wanted to include in my window display.

Some of my favourite window displays by the company.

Their displays are more unusual and don’t just stick to this norm of just showing off the clothing on mannequins with some boring shapes behind them, they create a scene trapped inside a little box for everyone on the outside to see. I feel like this grabs peoples attention a lot more than a window that looks like everywhere else on the streets.

My favourite Moncler window.

The image above is by far my favourite image that I have found of the window displays from Moncler. Its a person rock climbing in the snow. This image also shows off their clothing well as it shows durability, flexibility and gives off an element of warmth which is key for the type of clothing that people would be using it for.
