Off and on piste trends

Before I started physically designing the outfits that I wanted to have shown in my window display I needed an idea of colours and trends that I wanted to incorporate. For this I used WGSN. For my colour palette I chose a classy mix of four colours; Burgundy red, dark grey, white and black. I think that these colours sit so well together and look appealing to the eye.

I also looked at WGSN for activewear trends that I could use. I picked out my favourite two; Geo Baffles and Bound Sculpting. (trend boards seen below) I liked the puffer jacket elements of the geo baffles trend and the idea that these offer ‘a feeling reassurance’ and ‘comfort’ to the person wearing the garment. But, the bound sculpting trend was my favourite, I thought that I could den corporate this use of large elastic bands around the clothing and then outside on the window display as well. These elastic bands could have the effect that the release buckles have on the Moncler coats that I looked at by holding int he material at the waist and making the woman look more fashion forward and attractive. Although the trend board says that this is perfect for ‘sports bras, leggings and leotards’ I wanted to break this ut and take it into the outerwear section of the clothing instead.
