Swimwear is usually made from synthetic fibres as these repel water, but synthetic fibres are incredibly bad for the environment I spent the last week intently searching for fabrics that I could use visiting various sites and I finally found Econyl. Econyl is a recycled nylon made up from waste from landfills and waste from our oceans. It can be recycled again and again, it is sun cream and oil resistant, has excellent UV protection and is ultra chlorine resistant.

After finding our about this amazing fabric I went on to find where stocked it and how I could get my hands on it. I found funkifabrics.com to be extremely useful and they carried a range of different colours. I ordered some samples to find out if they were usable for my idea and what the colours actually showed up as. I was pleased with the samples that arrived and I am now looking into getting some more samples to see what other colours I would be interested in.
